Brief profile of Mr. B.N. Kalyani, Chairman, Board of Governors

Mr B N Kalyani, Chairman of the USD 2.1 Billion, Kalyani Group (with Bharat Forge, Ltd. as flagship company) is the principal driving force behind the growth and success of the Kalyani Group of Companies.  He has a B.E.(Hons.) from BITS Pilani and an M.S. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

An able entrepreneur and technocrat, Mr Kalyani has enriched the group with his vision of sound business governance and value driven management practices. He is responsible for the company's strategic planning, policies & corporate directions. He also inspires the company's unique culture by promoting core values that focus on people, customers, innovation, quality, integrity, fun, and profitability. With a business experience of more than 27 years, Mr. Kalyani has set the group on its growth path and is credited with the extraordinary vision for its entry into the fast emerging infrastructure development arena in India. 

Bharat Forge Ltd. is a global company with manufacturing facilities in India, Germany and USA. The company is aspiring for global leadership in its business. It supplies critical automotive engine and chassis components to virtually every global automotive manufacturer in the world. Mr. Kalyani has spearheaded Bharat Forge’s strategies that have resulted in it becoming one of India’s first global automotive component manufacturing companies.

Mr. Kalyani has established several joint venture companies in India with global leaders that include Robert Bosch, Arvin Meritor, Hayes Lemmerz and Carpenter Technology Corporation. All these reflect the Kalyani Group’s inherently strong connections with global industry.

Mr. Kalyani is a Member of key Government Committees that include the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, the Board of Trade, and the Development Council for Automobile and Allied Industries. He is also a Member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian industries and President of the Association of Indian Forging Industry. He is chairman of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management, Indore and a Member of the World Economic Forum, Switzerland.

Mr. Kalyani’s philanthropic activities are through the India Education Initiative which promotes primary education from underprivileged children in the local community. This through Pratham Pune Education Foundation, an NGO of which he is Founder Chairman.

Mr B N Kalyani has been conferred with the Business Standard CEO of the Year 2004.

Major Capacity Expansion Programme - Doubling Capacity at Bharat Forge
Bharat Forge acquired Federal Forge in June. New Company – Bharat Forge America
Bharat Forge acquired Imatra Forging Group – Imatra Kilsta AB, Sweden and Scottish Stampings, Scotland. New Company – Bharat Forge Kilsta & Bharat Forge Scottish Stampings Ltd.
Bharat Forge signed a JV with FAW Corporation, – the largest automotive group in China.
