Nanded earlier known as 'Nandigram' is located to the southeastern part of Maharashtra State. Nanded is situated 650 kms away from Mumbai and 270 kms from Hyderabad.

Nanded has a uniqueness of its own due to its historical, social and political importance. The tenth Guru of Sikkhs, Guru Gobind Singhji held his court and congregation here. This is the place where he recovered after assassins attacked him.

It is the second largest city in Marathawada after Aurangabad. Latur and Parbhani districts are to the west of Nanded district; Yavatmal district lies in the north. The state of Andhra Pradesh lies to the east and Karnataka state to the south. Nanded district is amongst the large districts in the state having 15 Talukas. The river Godavari flows through the city. Temples and ghats on the banks of Godavari have made Nanded one of the holiest places for Hindus.
 

Travel: Nanded is an important railway station on Hyderabad (Secundarabad) –Manmad line. It is connected by direct trains to Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Aurangabad, Delhi, Amritsar, Bangalore, Patna and Hyderabad. Considering development of the city; the national airport authority has approved a plan for expansion of the airport. Coming to Nanded by bus of State Transport or by private Travels is also very convenient because of large frequencies of buses. The central bus stand and Railway Station are at the heart of city. One can conveniently go to any part of the city by shared Auto Rikshaws and also by City Buses.

Lodging and Boarding: Lodging facility is fairly good here. Tourist places around Nanded like Aundha Nagnath, Parli Vaijnath, Mahur, Basar, Matasaab, Shikarghat, Sahasrtakund, Jamboolbet, Kedarguda, Kandhar can be easily approached by State Transport buses as well as private travels starting from Kalamandir or taxi also can be hired.
