The Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology (SGGSIET) is established on 17th December 1981 with full financial aid from Govt. of Maharashtra and approved by the All India council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India.  It is having over a green campus of 46 acres and is permanently affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.  The Institute has a standing of about 30 years in all, of which 22 years as a SGGS College of Engineering and Technology, 08 years as SGGS institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded.  As on now, institute is running the 10 UG programs and 07 PG program and recognized research centre of SRTMU, Nanded also having QIP centre for research program

Over the years, the system has evolved to reach and hold a unique position of pride in the technical education system in India. The institute is known across the country for providing quality technological and scientific education and an environment conducive to new and path-breaking research and development in frontier areas of engineering, technology and science.  The institute was selected under prestigious TEQIP (Phase-I) program of World Bank and presently, it is selected under TEQIP (Phase-II) (Subcomponent 1.2: Scaling up Postgraduate Education and Demand-Driven Research and Development and Innovation).

The institute is fully supported by the grants received from the Govt of Maharashtra and supported by AICTE, DST and other funding agencies. In 2004, it has achieved an autonomous status, governed by Board of Governors, nominated by Govt. of Maharashtra. Chairman of BOM is Padmabhushan Honorable Shri Baba Kalyani – an eminent, visionary industrialist and Chairman of Bharat Forge Ltd., Pune.
