Academic Programmme: 

Started in 1981, the department boasts of excellent faculty and well-equipped laboratories.  This is the only department in the state to receive national level accreditation for both post graduation and under graduation in Engineering.  Apart form publishing technical and science education books, our faculties have also contributed to national/International papers, and have presented papers at International conferences.  

Undergraduate programme (B. Tech)

The course, with an intake capacity of 40 students, contains subjects like instrumentation system design, control systems components, sensors and transducers, process instrumentation, control system design and biomedical instrumentation. Complementing these technical subject are subjects like communication skills, entrepreneurship development, industrial psychology etc. that go a long way towards personality development. Industrial visits and in-plant training provide them the much-needed exposure to electronics, computer, pneumatic, hydraulic control etc.

Postgraduate programme (M. Tech.)

Started in 1987, with a student intake of 18, this programme aims to provide world-class instrumentation engineers to industry as well as research and teaching organizations.  During this programme, students are exposed to special subjects like adaptive control, industrial instrumentation, etc. along with fieldwork.

vIt has adequately developed infrastructure such as building, laboratories etc.

v The Computer Laboratory, Bio-medical Instrumentation Laboratory and Instrumentation and Control Laboratory are adequately modernized with the grants received under MODROB/R&D/TAPTEC (DCA) schemes of AICTE.

v The department has strong linkages with premier institutes like IIT's, NIT's and industries.

v The faculty members of the department regularly participate in the continuing education programmes held at other reputed institutes and industries. These programmes are also organized in this department regularly for teachers from this organization and other institutes.

v Student chapters of two professional bodies are established. (ISTE, IAS)

v The students of the department are well placed in industries and well received in other institutes for higher education.

vFaculty visited abroad for presenting the papers in the international conferences.

vEvery year, many students qualify GATE exam with good score.
