The main objective of this course is to create sound and able technocrats. The course gives due importance to spinning, weaving, fibre science, knitting & non-wovens, technical textiles subjects along with garment manufacturing and merchandising. It also includes subjects like machine design to make the syllabus relevant to machine manufacturers. Interdisciplinary subjects like computer languages, CAD/CAM, electronics and instrumentation and control are included in order to make a student familiar with present needs.

As a part of the curriculum, each student must complete assignments, present seminars and undertake project work. The students undergo mandatory industrial training for two months before the degree is awarded. Most of the students get absorbed in reputed organization even before the declaration of the result.


Strength of Department

·         Most of the faculty members have obtained Ph. D from premier institutes. Nearly all faculty members are experienced and having industrial exposure

·        In 2008 department obtained NBA Accreditation for 5 years

·        Over 100 papers are published by faculty in various national/international journals and conferences

·        Department is having well equipped laboratories costing about 1.5 crore of rupees

·        Department is having placement record of 90% .

·        It has good industry institute interaction. Industries like Century Enka Pune, Indorama Nagpur, Raymonds Yavatmal, Kolhapur, Sanghi Polyster Hyderabad, Reliance Industries Ltd, Filatex Industries, Welspun Industries, Garden Silkmills -Surat etc.

·        Consultancy and testing work are carried out for various organizations.

·        National seminars and workshops are organized regularly.

·        Organizing community service programme regularly for local women

·        Department provides its machinery for local entrepreneurs to sustain their business

·        Every year 10-15% of the intake capacity qualified for GATE and MBA-CET exam.

·        Forty percent of the faculty members are office bearer of Textile Association of India, Marathwada Unit, a national professional organization

·        Student chapter of Textile Association of India is being efficiently run by the department

·        Students are participating in national and international seminars and conferences every year and winning awards

·        Department organizes community service programmes regularly.
