SGGS hosted International Interfaith
conference
(25-28 Sept. '08) |
SGGS was a proud venue for "International Interfaith Conference" held in 25-28 September, 2008 with a theme of "The Sikh Gurus Message To Humanity Respecting World Scriptures & Living Up To Their Message." This was a part of Tercentenary Gurta-gaddi celebrations -- exaltation of Sikh Scripture to eternal Guruship by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1708 organised jointly by Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib, Nanded and Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha, Bham, UK. The conference brought together some of the worlds prominent figures from different faiths. They shared the wisdom of Guru Granth Sahib - the Shabad Guru of the Sikhs - with everyone whilst learning from the revered Scriptures of other faiths as well. Spiritual music enriched the conference. This provided an opportunity for people of all faiths and none, to engage with each other in sharing the deep wisdom contained in their respective Scriptures, with the aim of establishing global peace through mutual understanding, consideration, respect and love for each other. The main programme started with the arrival of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the SGGS campus, and was followed by a host of events including cultural shows at evening. Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh, Spiritual leader & Chairman, Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha, UK, Dr. P.S. Pasricha, Chairman, administrative committee, Sachkhand Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib, and Mr. Sukhbir Singh, Convenor along with all committee members took efforts to make the programme a grad success. |
